Sointula and the Seeds of Kalervo Oberg’s Culture Shock Model

When you first suggested this conference to me, back in May 2012, I thought it was a wonderful idea but was sure that there was no way there could be suffi cient interest in a conference on culture shock on a small Canadian island to fill 100 places. But, how wrong I was! This conference has been reported on the national news in Canada and in Finland, as well as in the Huffington Post, and it had sold out before it received any of this publicity! It’s an amazing achievement and I think that everybody who has contributed to this should be very, very proud of themselves.
